Russell Loane, President Global Lighting Association
Russell Loane is a senior figure in Australia’s lighting industry and has a number of international lighting business partnerships. He was the inaugural Chairman of Australia’s peak body for the lighting industry, Lighting Council Australia, and served in that position from 2007 - 2016. Prior to his engagement with Lighting Council Australia Russell spent many years engaged with the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand, serving as National President for a period in the early 1990s.
Russell’s contribution to the lighting industry was recognised with an Australian Government Order of Australia Award in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List.
In 2007 Lighting Council Australia was invited to join in the formation of the predecessor organisation to the Global Lighting Association at a meeting in Brussels. Russell attended that meeting and has been a Board member ever since, having served most recently as Vice President.
Russell is a firm believer in international collaboration within the lighting industry. He was elected President of the Global Lighting Association at the Washington Board meeting in November 2017 when Jan Denneman stepped down from the role.
Michael Ng, Director Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA)
Michael Ng currently serves as a Director at the Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA) and is the Deputy Chair of International Affairs Committee. Michael graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His career started at Morgan Stanley, New York, as an analyst working in the Institution Equity Division, specializing in hedge fund operations and technology. He established AMKO SOLARA Lighting Co., Ltd. as CEO in 2005 that specializes in energy efficient lighting solutions, smart controls and monitoring systems.
Frank Hohn, Vice President and Head of Governmental Affairs OSRAM Licht AG in Munich Germany.
Frank is globally responsible for all activities within OSRAM connected with government liaison and industry associations. He is a Board member of the lighting division in the German industry electronics association ZVEI and member of the Executive Board of LightingEurope.
Frank Hohn has worked for more than 30 years in OSRAM in different capacities, including Purchasing, International Sales and Marketing prior to managing OSRAM´s Consumer Business in APAC, based in Hong Kong. After his return to Germany from Asia he worked as Senior Project Director in highly complex projects related to the transformation in the lighting industry.
Kiyoaki Uchihashi, Senior Executive Managing
Director Japan Lighting Manufactures Association
Kiyoaki Uchihashi is Senior Executive Managing Director of Japan Lighting Manufactures Association (JLMA). He is also a director of Japanese National Committee of CIE. He engaged in research and development about the lighting technology in Panasonic for 37 years.
Bryan Douglas, Secretary General
Bryan Douglas chairs the GLA’s Environment Committee. He is a previous CEO of Lighting Council Australia and has worked in peak bodies for the following industries in Australia: defence electronics, consumer electronics, electrical capital equipment, information technology and real estate. Bryan has an honours degree in history from the Australian National University and Chinese language qualifications from the Peoples Republic of China.
Pekka Hakkarainen, Vice President Lutron Electronics (NEMA)
Dr. Pekka Hakkarainen is Vice President at Lutron Electronics, and is currently assigned to work in Government and Industry Relations, including Standards activities. He has held several other—mostly technical—positions in his 20+ years at Lutron. Pekka is currently serving as Chair of the Lighting Systems Division of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), is a voting member of the ASHRAE 90.1 Committee, and a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA). He has previously chaired several IESNA and NEMA committees and served on numerous other industry committees and advisory groups. Pekka received a BA/MA degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University, England and a PhD in Plasma Physics from MIT. He holds seven U.S. patents,
Isac Roizenblatt, Technical Director Brazilian Lighting Industry Association (ABILUX)
Isac Roizenblatt is Technical Director of the Brazilian Lighting Industry Association (ABILUX), coordinator in the Brazilian National Standardization Association of Technical Committee 34—Lamps and related equipment, represents ABILUX in the National Energy Saving Program, reporter of the National Commission of Lamp Disposal, consultant of Pro Light and Energy Consultants and lecturer in several courses. Prior to the current activities has been working in lighting industry in several positions for many years in Brazil and Latin American countries. Has academic background as Electrical Engineer, Master in Energy and Ph.D. in Architecture and Urbanism.
Shyam Sujan, Secretary General Electric Lamp & Component Manufacturers’ Association (ELCOMA)
Worked with Philips India Limited for a long period in various capacities and job profiles. After retiring from Philips as a Regional Manager in year 2001, joined software Company (GISIL) as a Director. From 2004 onwards, am working with ELCOMA as Secretary General. Aged 66, Economics graduate, studied post graduation in Foreign Trade and undertook various courses in quality management, productivity, HR etc., last being ISO Certification and Process Management. Presently working as Secretary General of Electric Lamp & Component Manufacturers’ Association of India, and have been able to achieve milestones as desired by the Lighting Industry in India.
Chen Yangshen, Executive Vice President and Secretary General China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI)
Mr. Chen Yansheng has been engaged in lighting industry for more the 20 years, and is familiar with lighting standards, related policies, industrial development planning and etc.. He is the Executive Vice President and Secretary-general of CALI now.
